EXAMPLES OF RANSOMWARE
POPCORN TIME:
Since the attackers ultimate goal is to spread the ransomware to as many devices as possible in order to make a large profit, an alternative tactic has emerged. It is both social and sinister as it asks the victim to infect two other users. If both users pay the ransom, the victim will receive their files back, without charge.

WANNACRY:
WannaCry has the ability to spread itself without user interaction, by exploiting known vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows. Computers that do not have the latest Windows security updates are at risk of infection. The attackers will demand $300 worth of bitcoins and then later increase it to $600. If victims don't pay the ransom within three days, they are then told that their files would be permanently deleted.

JIGSAW:
Jigsaw is a type of ransomware that encrypts and progressively deletes files until a ransom is paid. The ransomware deletes a single file after the first hour, then deletes more and more per hour until the 72-hour mark, where all remaining files are deleted. Hence the victim has to act faster ,thus giving in into the offer.
